I was one of the NG units deployed, B Co. 3/160th Infantry (M). I was a little sacred, we all were. Nights were long, days were longer in the heat of East LA on Washington Blvd. People were nice. We were shoot at. One day we were trying to rest in a school gym were a large mural of Oscar de la Hoya was on one side. We were a little uptight and were sleeping on the floor. Suddenly, a large bulb from the gym popes. Everyone reached for their weapon and locked and loaded. The LTs and NCOs came in and calmed us down.
